A bit about us
RDA is a not for profit organisation and is run soley by volunteers and funded by the grants we source thoughout the year as well as our own fund raising activities and donations we receive from the public and business houses.
There are strict guidelines to becoming a centre under the RDA NSW banner, our governing body, but without them we don't have the Nationally accredited training as well as the support that is required to run a Riding for the Disabled Centre. RDA NSW also provide us with mentoring coaches, advice, training and insurance so it is very important that we meet the RDANSW standards and regulations.
The Inverell RDA committee have been working since July 2007 to establish a RDA Centre in Inverell. The progress was slowed somewhat with the onset of Equine Influenza in October 2007 but we are now moving ahead with a renewed enthusiasm.A public meeting was held in April 2008 to bring awareness to the general public and to keep people informed of our progress.
The public meeting was followed by our fist workshop 10th May 2008 at the Inverell Jockey Club. At the workshop our volunteers were taken through the process of what is required to become a volunteer with the RDA. The horses were also assessed and we practiced mounting, leading and side walking, preparing us for what lies ahead!.
Since then three of our members have passed their Assistant Coach assessment and two are now studying to become RDANSW Coaches.
We are a Provisional Centre at the moment but our goal is to become a fully fledged Centre in October this year. If you would like to ride with us please fill in and return the rider application form which you can download here or contact us for more information.
